Retrieval of a High-Precision Drought Monitoring Index by Using GNSS-Derived ZTD and Temperature

چکیده

Potential evapotranspiration (PET) is a key parameter for calculating drought monitoring index that generally difficult to obtain. In addition, PET has low spatial resolution and can only be obtained at site-based point. Therefore, retrieving with high precision, resolution, less meteorological data becomes the focus of this paper. paper, high-precision high-spatial-resolution (HDM) model was established accurately calculate by using zenith troposphere delay (ZTD) derived from global navigation satellite system (GNSS) temperature (T). The initial value calculated periodical based on PenmanMonteith (PM)-derived PET. difference (DET) between PM periodic then calculated, multiple linear regression fit DET ZTD T differences stations. To improve PET, spherical harmonic function applied coefficients these HDM-derived grid points eventually fitted ZTD/T. standardized precipitation evapotransporation (SPEI) were compared those Thornthwaite (TH) revised TH (RTH) models over loess plateau (LP) area PM-derived SPEI as references. Comparison results highlight excellent performance proposed HDM Pearsons correlations all exceeded 0.96 under different month scales.

A new method for evaluation and comprehensive drought Monitoring in the Urmia Lake Basin using a Synthesized Drought Index (SDI)

Drought is a complex phenomenon caused by the breaking of water balance and it has always an impact on agricultural, ecological and socio-economic spheres. Although the drought indices deriving from remote sensing data have been used to monitor meteorological or agricultural drought, there are no indices that can suitably reflect the comprehensive information of drought from meteorological to a...
